Cheated by Time!

Here’s a perfect example of a mixed blessing.

I’m just days away from another $%&#* birthday. I will turn 62 on said birthday. I recognize that not everyone got this far, and that, in fact, it’s something of a privilege to still be up and about at this age. You know what they say, every day above ground is a good day. They say that. They’re pretty much right.

Still… what don’t hurt, don’t work. They say that, too.

So as 62 has been on my radar screen, I’d been thinking, well, at least now I’ll qualify for a “Senior Discount” at Kohl’s!

Yeah. Then this came in the mail.

Whoops-- she's tipsy!

Now the Senior Discount applies to anyone age 60 or more! Somehow I feel cheated.

There had better be cake...

  1. Some birthdays seem to be more difficult than others; sounds like this is one of those for you. But you're right, it's a privilege to still be around. You'll have to get your money's worth from Kohl's by living way longer than you were planning to. How's that for an idea? Happy Birthday!

  2. LOL, well, I didn't know they even offered a seniors shopping day. Our big grocery store, Kroger, gives seniors a 10% discount the first Wednesday of every month. Right now it means "stay away from the store on the first Wednesday of every month." But I'm sure someday I'll appreciate it. Someday in the not all that distant future...

  3. Hello Leah.. HELLO!! I so love your blog.. your writings and your sense of humor. The fact that you're a couple of years older than me has me all giddy.. lol ... I'll be 60 in March so I know who Erma Bombeck was.. isn't that fun?

Thank you so much for coming to my blog the other day via SITS. I'm thrilled that you took the time and so happy to make this connection.

Unfortunately I don't have that cool "friend" button on my WordPress blog so the only option for people is to "subscribe" .. A lot of people don't want to do that, and I understand. Just don't forget to come around every so often and say hi. Take good care and thanks again, Keri

  5. Too funny!!! To think you've gone almost two whole years not knowing you could get the discount at Kohl's! Dang it! Stopping by from SITS...

  6. Hey -- I turned 62 in April. But when I turned 60 I declared it the new 40, so really I'm only 42.

At least you got a discount offer. The only discount offer I got was for a pre-paid cremation service. Well, happy freakin' birthday to you too I thought. I was especially unnerved by the "pre-paid" part.

    Happy Birthday.
